      Fort of Nauders top

The fortress of Nauders is the only completely conserved outer fort of the 19th century in Austria, erected between 1834 and 1840. Inside the fortress is nowadays situated a military museum and a permanent exhibition about "Verkehr über den Reschenpass - traffic over the Reschen Pass".

      Altfinstermünz top

The outer fort of Nauders is as well the beginning of the street of the past. The old street proceeds steeply downhill and joins the Inn glen at Finstermünz. The old village of Finstermünz, Altfinstermünz, was not only similar to the eye of a needle but also an important frontier and costums checking point along the Roman Via Claudia Augusta. In the middle of the Inn river the visitor finds an old wooden bridge with a bridge tower. The costums fortress Sigmundseck seems to be attached to the rock. An immense gate tower served as road block. The small Marian chapel was erected in 1605.
