Castel Churburg
Above Schluderns, in the sunny Vinschgau Valley between Meran and the Reschen Paß, with a view of the Ortler mountains, is situated one of the most powerful and well-maintained castles in South Tyrol - the Churburg - a jewel of the Vinschgau Valley.

Built in 1253 by the bishop of Chur, it later passed into the hands of the governors of Matsch and since 1504 it has been owned by the Count von Trapp family.
It is a Renaissance castle. In the romantic castle chapel, in the "Matscher Saal", in the "Jakobszimmer" and in other splendid rooms you can see many precious things. The armaments chamber is world-famous. It is the largest collection of armaments of artistic value.
