Visit of the exhibition "Romanesque art in the Vinschgau Valley
and St. John in Taufers i. M." as well as guided tour through
the church. The exhibition situated at the three-floor vestry concentrates
on three main topics. On the first floor the visitor is given general,
introductive information about the Romanesque period which lasted
from 1000 to 1300.
The cellar floor is dedicated to the various Romanesque cultural spots
of the Vinschgau Valley. The exhibition on the last floor concentrates
on the church of St. John, a jewel of the Romanesque art scene.
After a visit to the exhibition there is the possibility to participate
in a guided tour through the church during which the precious Romanesque
frescoes are explained to the visitor. On the outside wall Tyrol's
oldest picture of the St. Christophorus can be admired. The building
shows a rare ground plan, the church itself is cross-shaped.
For a long time the church served as hospice church, the dubble and
two-floor entrance hall accomodated the pilgrims.
