Kastelbell Castle rises majestically from the mighty castle rocks
at the western end of the village.
Built in 1238 by the gentlemen of Montalban, the castle has often
changed owners.
In 1577 the castle was acquired as feudal leasehold by the Hendl
family. Thus began the important history of the Hendl family, which
ended only in 1998 with the death of the last successor, the Countess
Elvira von Hendl.
In 1824 there was a fire at the castle and after that it deteriorated
considerably. In 1956 the by then ruined castle was taken over by
the Italian state. The Office for Monuments in Verona had the castle
restored. In 1999 it was put into the hands of the Kastelbell Castle
curators.
Worth seeing are the Castle Chapel with frescoes from the late
14th century; the inner courtyard, the old "Kuchl" in
the south wing and the newly-restored rooms in the palace.
Every year from Easter to Pentecost and in october art exibitions
can be visited.
