Guided tours of the tunnels with breakfast every Wednesday from 7.30 to 15.30. Please make prior arrangements with Scuol Information.

Adventure trips into the tunnels with groups of 4-6 persons only by prior arrangement. Equipment is available

The exhibition is described in Romansh and German. Italian and French texts on the main themes can be obtained from the ticket desk.

Historical mountain mining
On the trail of the bears

The place-name S-charl first appears in 1095/96 in a deed of donation of the gentlemen of Tarasp to the von Scuol cloister. From the 12th to the 17th centuries and from 1811 -1829 mining was carried on here.
In 1987 the "Fundaziun Schmelzra S-charl" was founded. It is the aim of this foundation to maintain the mining plant and make it accessible to the public.

The museum contains an exhibition on the history of mining and a second one on the bears. In addition, excursions are organised into the tunnels of the former lead and silver mines.
